Join the Fun! Do you have a passion for playing Canasta? The next generation of players are ready to learn the game! The Weisman Center is looking for a Canasta Teacher for Beginners to facilitate their Friday morning class.

Attention children and teens, we need your help packing food items in bags for our clients. This special event will take place at the Jacobson Family Food Pantry (430 S. Congress Ave, Unit 1C, Delray Beach), from 5pm to 7pm, Wednesday, October 15th.  Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Parents are required to attend. Community service hours will be provided.

JFS is seeking a volunteer who is available on a weekly basis, Mondays and or Tuesdays from 12:00PMto 3:00PM who will walk students to and from their appointments at the Toby & Leon Cooperman Therapy and Family Resource Center.  The volunteers will be responsible for walking children back and forth from the schools on our campus, DKJA or Zale, so that they can attend their therapy appointments at the Toby & Leon Cooperman Therapy & Family Resource Center. The volunteers may also be asked to assist in office related tasks, such as photocopying and scanning documents; Must enjoy being around children, be flexible enough to take on various administrative tasks that come up, and commit to volunteer regularly. This is a regular volunteer opportunity, which requires a weekly commitment.

JFS is seeking volunteers who can assist our staff as they provide therapy services to children with varying needs and abilities on our campus.  Responsibilities include front desk responsibilities and walking students to and from their classrooms on campus to their appointments at the Cooperman Center.  This is a regular volunteer opportunity, which requires a weekly commitment. Must enjoy being around children, be flexible enough to take on various administrative tasks that come up, and commit to a regular weekday afternoon or morning shift. 

Volunteers “visit” an isolated senior in their home or assisted living facility for at least four hours a month for socialization and conversation. Volunteers and their clients determine the schedule and frequency of the visits.

Teach a class, help with special events, assist in programs, or the front desk reception area.  We welcome volunteers of all skills and abilities to help us enhance the experience of our members at this beautiful senior center where seniors stay active and enjoy time together. 

Also available:  Assisting in preparations for our Diamond Club weekly social gathering.   Feldman Family Diamond Adventure Clubs:  Volunteers meet every Tuesday morning at the Weisman Center in Delray Beach.  This is a social group where volunteers assist by checking in guests, leading discussions on current events, setting up, and serving coffee and snacks.  Volunteers also assist with outside group bus excursions.  

We have an available opportunity to make weekly phone calls to a senior who is feeling lonely.  Through the Telephone Reassurance program, the volunteer will be matched with a client who they will call 2-3 times per week.  These calls are meant as a friendly check in.

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity in which the volunteer and client will set the schedule for calls directly with each other.  The volunteer will be provided a script to start and a link to log their weekly calls.  

This opportunity requires a regular on-going commitment from the volunteer.  Responsibilities are as follows:  Volunteers arrive at a location near century village (parking lot of 19785 Hampton Drive, Boca Raton) between 8:30am and 9:00am, to meet our food pantry truck. Volunteers are provided with a list of JFS clients and their addresses, mostly in century village, along with a bin full of pre-bagged food packages to deliver to the client’s door.  Volunteers must be able to carry one bag of non-perishable items, one bag of produce, and one container of milk and paper towels.  Volunteers drive their own car and it usually takes about 1-2 hours maximum to complete these deliveries. 

The JFS Community Mentoring Program serves children from 6-18 years of age that live in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Highland Beach. Our adult volunteer mentors are matched with a child who is in need of a role model and friend and would benefit from a long term, stable relationship from
a non-parental adult. Our mentors and mentees meet regularly for a minimum of four hours per month and commit to a minimum of one year.

Mentors contribute rich personal histories, a broad range of personal experiences, and a genuine desire to make a difference in a child’s life....encouraging them along their journey to becoming confident, productive adults.

Teens receive community service hours for liking, tagging, and sharing JFS posts.  Student social media accounts must be public or the posts must be visible to us, and tag Rales JFS in reposts, using appropriate hashtags (e.g., #RalesJFS, #Volunteer, #wearefamily).  Students can earn hours, up to 15 hours maximum per month, in the following ways:

   - Earn: 1 volunteer hour.

2. Repost or Share Our Posts

   - Action: Share or repost five of our official posts on your personal social media account.

   - Earn: 1 volunteer hour.

   - Action: Post a photo or video of yourself at a Rales JFS volunteer event or share relevant content about our organization.

   - Earn: 1 volunteer hour per post

 4. Encourage your family to follow JFS

   -Action: Get 5 family members to follow JFS

   -Earn:  1 volunteer hour 

JFS is seeking Russian-speaking volunteers willing to make a presentation to a group of Holocaust survivors who meet monthly in Century Village.  The presentation will last approximately 20 minutes and will be based on a topic that the volunteer is skilled in, has an expertise in, or is passionate about.   Topics may include anything from art, health, wellness, law, to current events, movies, books etc.  We are open to discussing anything in your professional background that you care to share!
