Volunteer: Teen & Family High Holiday Food Pantry Packing and Sorting Event

JFS is seeking a volunteer who is available on a weekly basis, Mondays and or Tuesdays from 12:00PMto 3:00PM who will walk students to and from their appointments at the Toby & Leon Cooperman Therapy and Family Resource Center.  The volunteers will be responsible for walking children back and forth from the schools on our campus, DKJA or Zale, so that they can attend their therapy appointments at the Toby & Leon Cooperman Therapy & Family Resource Center. The volunteers may also be asked to assist in office related tasks, such as photocopying and scanning documents; Must enjoy being around children, be flexible enough to take on various administrative tasks that come up, and commit to volunteer regularly. We have an available opportunity to make weekly phone calls to a senior who is feeling lonely.  Through the Telephone Reassurance program, the volunteer will be matched with a client who they will call 2-3 times per week.  These calls are meant as a friendly check in.

Volunteers are provided with a list of JFS clients and their addresses, mostly in century village, along with a bin full of pre-bagged food packages to deliver to the client’s door.  Volunteers must be able to carry one bag of non-perishable items, one bag of produce, and one container of milk and paper towels.  Volunteers drive their own car and it usually takes about 1-2 hours maximum to complete these deliveries.

Volunteer: Food Pantry Deliveries on our Boca Raton Campus

Current need is for a Substitute/ Back-up volunteer driverDeliveries take place every other Thursday morning. Ideally, we are seeking a volunteer who can commit to this opportunity on a regular basis.  Volunteers arrive on campus between 8:30am and 9:00am to meet our food pantry truck in front of the Gould House (a residential building on the Jewish Federation campus in Boca).  Volunteers are provided with a list of JFS clients and their apartment numbers, along with a bin full of pre-bagged food packages to deliver to the client's door.  Once Gould House resident deliveries are completed, the volunteers drive to the Weinberg house (on the same campus) and make deliveries to the residents there.  The total time commitment for the volunteer is 1.5- 2 hours maximum.     High School students age 16+ are welcome to participate for community services hours. Volunteers must be able to lift heavy bags into and out of carts as well as pushing the carts through the hallways. Volunteers should feel comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs at a time and pushing heavy carts.
